Fildena 100 mg, which contains sildenafil citrate, has contraindications with nitrate medications due to the potential for severe interactions that can lead to a dangerous drop in blood pressure (hypotension). Nitrate medications are commonly prescribed for the treatment of chest pain (angina) and include medications such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, and isosorbide mononitrate.

Nitrate medications work by dilating blood vessels, which helps to improve blood flow and relieve chest pain. However, sildenafil citrate, the active ingredient in Fildena 100 mg  also works by dilating blood vessels, albeit through a different mechanism. When nitrate medications and sildenafil are taken together, they can cause an additive effect, leading to excessive vasodilation and a significant drop in blood pressure.

This drop in blood pressure can result in serious complications, including dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and in severe cases, cardiovascular collapse and even death. Therefore, it’s crucial to avoid the concurrent use of Fildena 100 mg and nitrate medications.

If you are taking nitrate medications for any reason, it’s essential to inform your healthcare provider before starting treatment with Fildena 100 mg or any other medication for erectile dysfunction. Your healthcare provider can assess your individual risk factors and determine the safest and most appropriate treatment options for you.

It’s also important to note that the contraindication with nitrate medications applies not only to Fildena 100 mg but also to other medications containing sildenafil citrate or other phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, such as Viagra (sildenafil) and Cialis (tadalafil).
